Company Profile:

Roadrunner Couriers Pty Ltd commenced service in 1948 trading as Port Courier Service and based in Port Adelaide.

Initially Port Couriers Service provided the courier requirements of companies with their head offices in the city and branch offices located in and around Port Adelaide.

Port Courier Service was founded in 1948 by Mr Roger Baynes. Just prior to 1950 Roger Baynes diversified his interests to establish Messenger Newspapers into the the largest producer of suburban newspapers in the Southern Hemisphere.

As a division of Messenger Newspapers, Port Courier Service continued its successful rise throughout the metropolitan area of Adelaide.

In the early eighties the founder, Roger Baynes passed away and control of Port Courier Service was taken by the Advertiser Newspapers Limited.

In July 1983 Michael Ryan the manager of Port Courier Service, made an offer to The Advertiser to take over Port Courier Service. The offer was accepted and on the 23rd of September 1983 Michael Ryan launched his company Roadrunner Couriers. Roadrunner continued to trade under the name of Port Courier Service until December 1989 at which time Roadrunner Couriers became the official trading name.

New premises, a fully computerised booking and despatch system including interactive mobile data communication with our on road fleet and our new trading name saw the company enter the nineties ready to meet and exceed the markets expectations for clients both present and future.

July 1993 saw Roadrunner Couriers takeover the business of Classic Couriers. Further acquisitions of Lazer Couriers in September 1997 and Metropolitan Couriers in Februrary 2000, now gives the Roadrunner Group of Companies the availability of some 110 vehicles to service the requirements of customers.
