Roadrunner
Couriers Pty Ltd commenced service in 1948 trading as Port Courier
Service and based in Port Adelaide. |

Initially
Port Couriers Service provided the courier requirements of companies
with their head offices in the city and branch offices located
in and around Port Adelaide. |
|

|
| |
Port
Courier Service was founded in 1948 by Mr Roger Baynes. Just
prior to 1950 Roger Baynes diversified his interests to establish
Messenger Newspapers into the the largest producer of suburban
newspapers in the Southern Hemisphere. |

As
a division of Messenger Newspapers, Port Courier Service continued
its successful rise throughout the metropolitan area of Adelaide. |
|

| |
In
the early eighties the founder, Roger Baynes passed away and
control of Port Courier Service was taken by the Advertiser
Newspapers Limited. |

| |
In
July 1983 Michael Ryan the manager of Port Courier Service,
made an offer to The Advertiser to take over Port Courier Service.
The offer was accepted and on the 23rd of September 1983 Michael
Ryan launched his company Roadrunner Couriers. Roadrunner continued
to trade under the name of Port Courier Service until December
1989 at which time Roadrunner Couriers became the official trading
name. |

New
premises, a fully computerised booking and despatch system including
interactive mobile data communication with our on road fleet
and our new trading name saw the company enter the nineties
ready to meet and exceed the markets expectations for clients
both present and future. |

July
1993 saw Roadrunner Couriers takeover the business of Classic
Couriers. Further acquisitions of Lazer Couriers in September
1997 and Metropolitan Couriers in Februrary 2000, now gives
the Roadrunner Group of Companies the availability of some 110
vehicles to service the requirements of customers. |
